Relationship Therapy

Strengthening Connection Through Authenticity, Attunement, and Repair

We are built for connection — to develop deep, meaningful, reciprocal relationships with others. Research consistently identifies relationships as the primary driver of health, fulfillment, and long-living. At the same time, isolation and loneliness are known to fuel pains like depression, anxiety, and addiction.

The vulnerability and intimacy of romantic relationships give them immense power to push us toward either outcome. They can hold our richest joys and our deepest hurts. Relationship therapy (sometimes called couples therapy) provides a space to honestly meet the present-day realities of yourself and your relationship, to imagine what you want it to become, and to commit to the hard work of healing old wounds and interrupting painful patterns.

A Path to Renewed and Deepened Connection

Relationships thrive when their members are attuned to their own emotions and needs. In session, we slow down enough to connect with and speak from your center — your real emotions, longings, and boundaries — rather than the reactive scripts that take over during conflict. From that grounded sense of self, it becomes possible to open back up to your partner(s) with vulnerability and love, instead of defense and distance.

Together, we work to:

  • Rebuild Trust: Honestly and compassionately work through ruptures like infidelity, neglect, or slow-burn disconnection.
  • Communicate Without Combat: Learn nonviolent communication practices that let you say hard things without doing harm.
  • Reconnect With the Body: Use somatic awareness to notice what’s happening in your body during conflict or closeness, long before words catch up.
  • Clarify Shared Values: Move from “who’s right” to “what do we actually want to build together.”
  • Repair Ongoing Patterns: Identify the loop you keep falling into and practice new ways out of it, together.
  • Consider Your Environment: Look honestly at the external pressures — family, culture, work, community — shaping your relationship, not just the two (or more) of you in the room.

Where separation is the most loving and clear-eyed path forward, we’ll navigate that transition with the same compassion and care.

Who We Work With

Every relationship carries its own history, culture, and shape. We particularly enjoy walking alongside:

Relationships Impacted by Addiction

When substance use or compulsive behavior touches a relationship — your own, your partner’s, or both — trust, safety, and communication often take the hit. We help you address the addiction’s impact on the relationship directly, alongside (not instead of) any individual recovery work.

Navigating Difference

Differences in culture, religion, or values can either enrich a relationship or quietly erode it. We help you turn these differences into honest, ongoing conversations rather than avoided landmines.  We’re affirming of all identities, genders, sexual orientations, and relationship structures.

Neurodivergent & Mixed-Neurotype Relationship

When one or both partners are ADHD, Autistic, or otherwise neurodivergent, communication styles, sensory needs, and processing speeds can clash in ways that get mislabeled as not caring enough. We help you build a shared language and structure that actually fits both your brains — not a generic template neither of you asked for.

Non-Monogamous & Polyamorous Relationships

We affirm all relationship structures. Whether you’re exploring ethical non-monogamy, managing an existing polyamorous relationship, or navigating jealousy, disclosure, or hierarchy, we bring the same NVC and attachment-informed lens without assuming a default structure.

Our Integrated Approach

Our work is rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — building a values-driven relationship by accepting what can’t be changed and committing to actions aligned with what actually matters to you both. Alongside ACT, we draw on:

  • Nonviolent Communication (NVC): A concrete framework for expressing needs and hearing your partner’s without triggering defensiveness.
  • Somatic Reflection: Slowing down to notice bodily signals — tension, shutdown, activation — as real-time data about what’s happening beneath the words.
  • Emotional Acceptance & Mindfulness: Making room for difficult emotions like anger, grief, or fear instead of managing them away, so they stop running the relationship from the shadows.
  • Environmental Considerations: Examining the external structures – schedules, finances, family systems, living situations – that either support or strain a healthy relationship.

Where We Meet

We currently offer relationship therapy in:

  • Georgia – in-person in Decatur or virtual statewide.
  • Texas – virtual only.

Our Commitment to You

In session, you can expect a warm, non-judgmental space where every voice in the relationship is heard and valued — not just the loudest or most articulate one. We’ll check in regularly to make sure our work together is meeting your actual goals, not an assumption about what your relationship “should” look like. We are neurodiversity-affirming, LGBTQ-affirming, and committed to honoring the relationship structure that’s right for you.
